Durr Road clean-up

“Working Today For Tomorrow’s Wildlife”

Our next clean-up day: April 18th, 2026 starting @ 9am

Food and Drinks are provided, along with a porta-potty on site.

We are proud to have kept Durr Road clean since 1999.

We started the Durr Road Clean-up in 1999. This land is part of the WFDW Wenas Wildlife Area. They recently developed this area for target practice for the public with shooting benches, berms, and parking areas. Prior to 2025, people were randomly target-shooting and dumping trash. The club’s annual clean-up averages about 2 tons of trash every year, but with continuing maintenance and education we hope someday this cleanup becomes obsolete!

When we started:

1999 – we did our first ever Durr Road clean up to be able to continue to use that area.

2003 – we completed the second clean-up event, by removing trash.

2004 – completed third event for Durr road clean up and collected 2 tons of trash.

2005 – the fourth clean-up event we collected 2 tons of trash again, show’s this is a needed service to the community.

2006 – 50 volunteers gathered 2.5 tons of trash at the annual Durr Road Clean Up.

2007 –  Complete 6th Durr Road clean-up with the most volunteers ever!

2008 – At the Durr Road Clean Up, volunteers pick up 3,420 pounds of litter.

2009 – Durr Road Clean Up cleared 5,680 lbs of trash from the LT Murray.

2010 – Volunteers pick up 2.12 tons of litter at the 9th Durr Road Clean Up.

2011 – Volunteers remove 2.5 tons of litter from LT Murray during 10th Durr Road Clean Up.

2014 –  Annual Durr Road Clean Up happened and continues to be a needed service.

2015 –  Organize annual Durr Road Clean Up; volunteers remove 2.1 tons of litter from the Wenas Wildlife Area; the first Clean Up was in 1999.

2016 – Recognized by WDFW as “Volunteer Organization of the Year” for our 15 years of sponsoring the Durr Road Clean Up, which removed 1.5 tons of litter this year.

2017 –  Durr Road Clean Up removed over 2 tons of trash.

2018 – Volunteers remove 1.67 tons of litter from Durr Road.

2019 – Durr Road coincides with many other Earth Day and Easter events, and our hardy volunteers pick up nearly one ton of litter.

(2020 to 2021) – COVID restrictions again prevented us from achieving as much as we would have liked. No Durr Road Clean-Up

2022 –  We finally got to hold our annual Durr Road Clean-up—club members removed 1.35 tons of trash of this WDFW wildlife area.
